To mark Major Trauma Awareness week (16 to 22 September 2024), the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) Recruitment team visited the Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital (GMMTH) to reflect on their hiring success.
Since work began in 2021, an additional 232 jobs have been created to staff the building, which includes roles in radiology, research, pathology and theatres, and also into essential supportive functions like estates and facilities.
This has been the first time many of the Recruitment team have toured the facility and felt the impact of their hard work and achievements over the past few years.
Cindy Chan, resourcing officer (pictured right) said: “The building is as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. It’s bright, spacious, and equipped with advanced equipment and technologies. Meeting colleagues who recently went through the recruitment process was a highlight of the tour. It was great to put faces to names and see how they were doing in their new major trauma role.”
As one of the largest NHS foundation trusts in the country, the NCA processes approximately 360 new start dates every month. With the increased capacity for major trauma, the Recruitment team were processing 5% more candidates through recruitment each month to meet targets throughout the build.
